PIEZOELECTRIC CERAMIC PRODUCTS
Rings have an outer and inner diameter with electrodes applied to both flat surfaces with the polarity through the thickness of the part.
Bars are the same as plates with a different ratio among the height, width and length. Typically, bars are generally long and skinny compared to a plate.
Cylinders have an outer and inner diameter with electrodes applied to both diameter walls with the polarity through the wall thickness of the part.
PLATES AND SHEAR PLATES
Electrodes are applied to the top and bottom surfaces. For a standard plate the polarity is through the thickness of the plate. For a shear plate, the polarity is running parallel with the electrodes.
DISCS AND RODS
Electrodes are applied to both flat surfaces with the polarity through the thickness of the part. The difference between a disc and rod is merely the thickness of a rod is greater than the diameter.
Composites provide lower impedance and Mechanical Q, and higher coupling and frequency bandwidth than a stand-alone ceramic part. Typical applications for composites include medical diagnostic ultrasound, NDT, and SONAR.
